Comprehensive Stroke Center – Feb 2016

MRI images of brain scans

Thanks to a magnificent $5 million gift from an anonymous donor, Jupiter Medical Center was able to fast-track the development and launch of our Comprehensive Stroke Center, which opened in January 2019. Our Comprehensive Stroke Center delivers 24/7 rapid, advanced stroke care for both ischemic (blockages) and hemorrhagic (bleeding) strokes, utilizing advanced facilities and technologies. The Center includes the latest, 3-D neurointerventional biplane angiography technology which is used for precise diagnosis of neurological abnormalities and minimally invasive endovascular procedures that can immediately repair these conditions. This 3-D biplane technology also provides physicians with functional imaging, allowing advanced visualization and navigation around structures in the brain, providing better patient outcomes.

While Jupiter Medical Center has been a Primary Stroke Center since 2008, this much needed move to become a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center was on the heels of a protocol change by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to transport stroke patients only to facilities that have this designation. The closest Comprehensive Stroke Center to the south is in West Palm Beach, and Fort Pierce, Fla., to the north.
