Jupiter Medical Center Foundation Raises Nearly $42 Million in One Record-breaking Fiscal Year

JUPITER, FLA. (November 14, 2016) – Jupiter Medical Center Foundation announced today that it raised $41.8 million in 2016, which represents a 60% increase in funds raised over fiscal year 2015 and a full 120% increase over funds raised in fiscal year 2014. This exceptional achievement would not have been possible without the generous and forward thinking investments of donors who recognize that their donations to support Jupiter Medical Center make a real impact on the quality of care available to the community. “With this kind of philanthropic support, our community can, and will, continue to receive world class healthcare. Our mission at Jupiter Medical Center Foundation is to equip Jupiter Medical Center with the resources needed to provide world-class health services to the region,” said Liv E. Vesely, the president of the Foundation.

Ms. Vesely, with the assistance of her team, launched an ambitious $300 million campaign in February 2016. The funds raised during this fiscal year represent a major stepping stone on the Foundation’s path to achieve its campaign goal and will help the Foundation to achieve its mission of empowering and supporting Jupiter Medical Center to deliver the highest quality health care to the community.

“Donors want to invest in Jupiter Medical Center because they recognize that we have created a new model of healthcare that combines cutting-edge academic medicine and research with patient-centered care, predicated on world-class quality, service and safety,“ stated John D. Couris, Jupiter Medical Center’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We hold ourselves to a very high standard at Jupiter Medical Center and it shows.”

According to the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s 2015 Report on Giving, the median production funds (outright gifts of cash and new gift commitments) raised by teaching/academic hospitals in 2014 was $27.2 million dollars, while the median production funds raised by community hospitals was $1.7 million dollars. This year’s fundraising success marks a new high point for Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, which raised $25.6 million in the 2015 fiscal year and $19 million in the 2014 fiscal year, placing it firmly in the upper echelon of healthcare fundraising institutions by scale. Fundraising success of this magnitude is a testament to the value that donors see in ensuring that the highest standard of health care is available to the South Florida community by investing in the success of Jupiter Medical Center.

“Each year, Jupiter Medical Center Foundation strives to help provide the resources needed to allow Jupiter Medical Center to provide the full spectrum of health care services to the community and region,” said Liv E. Vesely. “This year, we were particularly thrilled to raise nearly $42 million, furthering our ability to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.”

Funds raised will help to create expanded points of access for care, as well as support pioneering education and outreach programs and tools and services to ensure the availability of world-class health care. Ongoing fundraising success will allow Jupiter Medical Center to continue to foster innovation in patient-centered care and attract some of the country’s most highly-skilled medical professionals by having the resources to acquire and implement leading-edge technology, treatment and protocols.

Finally, funds raised through the campaign will support the construction of new high-tech treatment and research facilities, including a Comprehensive Cancer Institute, Surgery Center with state of the art operating rooms and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Institute will serve as an innovative center of excellence for cancer care and will be recognized as the flagship research and treatment center for the region, offering the most advanced diagnostic services and outpatient treatment. The Institute’s unique patient-centered approach will focus on coordinating every aspect of the patient’s care, beginning the moment they walk through the door. While the Institute will be at the forefront of providing unparalleled diagnosis, treatment and management of all types of cancer, it will also maintain a specific focus on breast, lung and gynecological cancers.
