Same Distance, Different Reasons, Bring Marathon Runners Together

Jupiter, Fla. – Jupiter Medical Center’s mission is being put into motion thanks to a group of local runners who are pledging to trek 26.2 miles to raise money for Jupiter Medical Center Foundation. After a 16-week training program, the Jupiter Medical Center Training Team, in partnership with Palm Beach Roadrunners, will participate in the FitTeam Palm Beaches Marathon on December 2 in West Palm Beach.

Despite similar training, each runner brings a different source of inspiration to competing in this year’s race. Marathon-running veteran Sherri Mann is motivated to run since regaining her health after a life-threatening episode; something that gave her an intimate understanding of the importance of receiving the best health care – like the care available at Jupiter Medical Center – for herself and for her loved ones.

Carrie Davis Browne, a Jupiter Medical Center team member, is also running to pay tribute to Jupiter Medical Center and to spend more time with her husband Donald, who is also running in the marathon. Together, they reflect the vision of Jupiter Medical Center, which is to promote a life well-lived through healthy habits, and to fight for those who continue to battle various ailments.

“We are very proud of all our participants who have been training so hard for the last 12 weeks,” said Jupiter Medical Center Foundation President Liv Vesely. “The training and fundraising efforts they are putting forward is incredibly admirable, and we’re grateful for how they’re giving back to the foundation. Such philanthropic-minded participants are crucial in steering our strategic growth plan and for remaining an independent, not-for-profit health care system.”
