Bequest and Wills

A bequest is a gift through your will or living trust that costs you nothing now, but it provides support to us after your lifetime. Bequests offer flexibility and can be structured to fit your personal situation. The gift is revocable, so you can change your mind at any time should your circumstances change.

You can make a bequest of cash, marketable securities, real estate, or personal property such as art or jewelry. In many cases, a bequest can reduce the taxes that would be levied against your estate, in the same way that donations during your lifetime entitle you to charitable income tax deductions. There are a number of ways that you can name the hospital as a beneficiary of your will. You can:

  • Give a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate;
  • Bequeath stock, bonds or real estate; or
  • Name the hospital as a residual beneficiary. Jupiter Medical Center will receive all or part of the remainder of your estate after all other bequests have been satisfied and final taxes paid.

If you already have a will, you can add Jupiter Medical Center to it by simply executing a codicil.

You can designate your bequest to a particular department or program that is important to you. Or, you can leave your bequest unrestricted to meet the most pressing needs of the hospital. Working together we can create a bequest that reflects your wishes and makes a lasting difference at Jupiter Medical Center.
