As the only independent, not-for-profit hospital in the region, we rely on donor generosity to accelerate innovation, strengthen clinical capabilities, and ensure our community has access to the most advanced tools in modern medicine. Philanthropy allows us to adopt next-generation technology sooner, expand essential services more rapidly, and elevate the patient experience at every step.
Expanding Access to Advanced Imaging
A visionary gift from Dorothy J. Thomson is leading the way as we expand The Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center with the goal of ensuring patients have timely access to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging. The Center already performs nearly 40,000 exams annually using the most advanced technologies, including 3D mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound, and image-guided biopsy. As demand continues to grow, philanthropy is helping add a 13,000-square-foot imaging wing that will include new mammography suites, expanded ultrasound services, a second MRI, new CT scanners, an outpatient laboratory, and dedicated space for mindfulness programs that support healing.
Advancing Surgical Innovation and Improving Outcomes
Thanks to a visionary investment from Barb and Joe Charles, Jupiter Medical Center is writing a new chapter in surgical excellence. The Barb and Joe Charles Hybrid Operating Suites, two expansive 1,100-square-foot hybrid operating rooms, bring together surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other specialists to address complex medical challenges using minimally invasive procedures. As medical innovations continue to advance, these versatile rooms are equipped to accommodate the most intricate procedures and surgeries, keeping Jupiter Medical Center at the forefront of leading-edge care.
Improving Cancer Care with Advanced Diagnostic Imaging
In 2020, Jupiter Medical Center significantly enhanced its cancer diagnostic and staging capabilities with the addition of the GE DiscoveryTM IQ, a high-performance digital PET/CT scanner, made possible through the generosity of Barb and Joe Charles. This philanthropic investment positioned Jupiter Medical Center as the first hospital in Florida to produce motion-free images, elevating the precision of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The advanced system delivers exceptionally clear, highly detailed images and leads to more accurate diagnoses, personalized treatment planning, and a smoother, more comfortable experience for patients.
Leading the Future of Care Through Robotic Surgery
A transformational philanthropic gift launched the Frank E. and Mary D. Walsh Robotic Surgery Program at Jupiter Medical Center in 2010, marking a pivotal moment in the advancement of surgical care for our community. This landmark investment introduced the da Vinci® Si Surgical System—bringing unprecedented precision, enhanced dexterity beyond human capability, and high-definition 3D visualization to the operating room.
Thanks to the continued generosity of our philanthropic partners and their shared commitment to advancing robotic care, Jupiter Medical Center has experienced remarkable growth, successfully completing more than 10,000 robotic-assisted surgeries to date. Today, the Walsh Robotic Surgery Program is among the most comprehensive robotic surgery programs in the nation, delivering cutting-edge technology and exceptional outcomes for patients close to home.
