The gift will establish the “Elliott Family Center for Cardiac Electrophysiology”
JUPITER, Fla. – May 13, 2024 – Jupiter Medical Center is pleased to announce a $10 million donation to establish the “Elliott Family Center for Cardiac Electrophysiology.” The donation comes from Jupiter-based donors Hugh and Nancy Elliott. The funds will help to expand the not-for-profit hospital’s existing Electrophysiology (EP) Lab from one lab to two and support future growth and expansion needs. Between fiscal year 2022 and 2023, Jupiter Medical Center saw a nearly 40 percent increase in demand for electrophysiology procedures.
During an EP study, highly trained electrophysiologists who specialize in heart arrhythmias use minimally invasive, state-of-the-art equipment to monitor and map the heart's electrical systems. The studies help physicians understand each patient’s unique arrhythmia, including the cause, where it is originating, how well certain medications are working, and if a patient needs an implantable device like a pacemaker or another procedure to help control their abnormal heart rhythms.

JMC’s Elliott Family Center for Cardiac Electrophysiology will be part of the hospital’s award-winning Robson Heart & Vascular Institute, which features an AFib Center of Excellence. Since launching in 2020, the hospital’s heart program has rapidly expanded to meet the growing demand for its services, including a Structural Heart Program. Like all specialties, the hospital employs a multidisciplinary approach to heart care, and the ever-increasing team of cardiac specialists is experienced in a wide range of treatments, including pharmaceutical, minimally invasive and surgical.
“According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is estimated that more than 12 million people in the United States will have AFib in 2030,” said David Weisman, MD, a fellowship-trained, board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist. “Electrophysiologists are an integral part of heart care and will continue to grow in importance given the expected volume of patients in the near future. I am grateful to the Elliott’s for their foresight and commitment to ensuring our community will have access to the highest quality heart care for generations to come.”
Hugh Elliott founded Elliott Tape, a certified veteran-owned business in Auburn Hills, Michigan, in 1974 to supply tape to the automotive industry. The company evolved into Elliott Group International and remains a leading tape supplier for automotive, appliance, aerospace, military, industrial and specialty industries. Products range from pressure-sensitive tapes, foil products, cloth tapes, foam products, and more. The couple supports causes close to their heart through their R. Hugh Elliott Family Foundation, including health care and education.
